Standing on a 400-year-old foundation
India is not new to diamonds — it is where they were first mined, traded and cut. The legendary stones of history, from the Koh-i-Noor outward, came from Indian earth, and Indian cutters were polishing diamonds with diamond dust centuries before Europe learned the technique. Today that heritage is industrial fact: Surat, Gujarat cuts and polishes roughly 90% of the world's diamonds by volume, and India has become the fastest-growing producer of lab-grown stones, increasingly powered by solar energy.
The gap we kept seeing
Despite sitting at the center of the world's diamond supply chain, buying a custom ring in India still meant glass counters, catalogs and trust-me pricing — while international online configurators treated India as an afterthought, priced in dollars with shipping disclaimers. The craft was here. The stones were here. The transparent, modern buying experience was not. That gap is what Starla Jewels was built to close.
Why a live 3D studio, not a catalog
A catalog shows you someone else's ring. We wanted the opposite: every shape, setting, metal, karat and band decision visible on screen in real time, with the price recalculating as honestly as a metal rate board. Building that meant real-time 3D in the browser — accurate stone proportions, true band geometry, prong placement that responds to your choices — followed by photorealistic renders so you approve the actual piece before a gram of gold is cast.
India-first, world-ready
Being built here shapes the details: prices in rupees with India's gold-rate reality baked in, Indian and US ring size scales side by side, UPI and cards through Razorpay, hallmarked gold, and lab-grown stones sourced close to where they are grown and cut. The same platform serves international customers in dollars with PayPal — because a tool built rigorously for India's standards travels well, not the other way around.
Where this goes
Every ring we make adds to a simple thesis: the country that cuts the world's diamonds should also design the world's best way to buy them. The studio you are using is that thesis in software — and your feedback, including the reviews above, is what steers it next.
